While most bfans on here are great...

Sometimes I want to chant this during home games for those alum who buy up the expensive seats and don't do much cheering. I'm not saying they should stand the whole game, they buy a seat not a bleacher spot, but c'mon, when the game gets exciting or the teams needs some noise...

I would rather a chant be directed at the 20 year old students who also sit on their hands, or even if they are standing, make little to no noise unless a monster dunk occurs or Lace drains a 3.

I'm an older alum, 39, and I buy up the expensive seats. There ain't no student that's any louder than me.

I'm certainly glad to see our program succeed, but our fan base just hasn't been committed to comedy-venue quality heckling since our team sucked.

You can thank the jumbo shrimpers for that.

I'm sure some of you will say, "yeah, but we get $7,500 in donation money per seat now." And that's all fine and dandy.

But to see the anger, frustration and contempt on a referee or opposing players' face and have them stewing with anger at the very mention of playing in our arena is worth a heck of a lot more.

Fish - not sure how many times you've sat in alum sections. There's plenty of us that scream our head off at the refs. There's also a little thing called the Bear Pit that when they're full and rocking - they can get in a player's head (emphasis on "when they're full and rocking").

But again, I attribute very few of the atmosphere problems to the Jumbo Shrimpers - I attribute it to the 75% of students I see sitting on their hands doing nothing all game. Watch next time there's a timeout with the band playing a song that requires the group to join in...you will see the Bear Pitters doing the Bear Claw or whatever it may be, and you will see a few Bear Pitters in the stands doing it too, and maybe a few other random students. Then you will see 25% of students staring into space, 25% texting, and 25% talking about their next event, homework, or who Johnny likes or doesn't like. Again, unify the 20 year olds first, then come after the blue hairs.

A few more seasons of winning will certainly help with enthusiasm of the student population.
