KANSAS CITY - Baylor head men's basketball coach Scott Drew has been named Big 12 Coach of the Year Wednesday by the Austin American-Statesman and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
In his seventh season as head coach, Drew guided the Bears to a 24-6 record and a tied for second place in the league standings at 11-5. Baylor, which was picked 10th in the preseason coaches poll, has been ranked for a school-record nine consecutive weeks in the AP Top 25 Poll. Baylor's 24 wins are tied for the second-most in school history.
Baylor, the No. 3 seed at this week's Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Championship, earned its first opening-round bye in the Big 12 era. The Bears will play the winner of No. 6 Texas and No. 11 Iowa State in the quarterfinals Thursday at approximately 8:30 p.m. CST on ESPN2.

WACO, Texas - Baylor men's basketball senior point guard Tweety Carter has been named a fourth-team All-American by Sporting News Tuesday. He is the first Baylor player named an All-American by Sporting News since Micheal Williams earned back-to-back honorable mention honors in 1987 and 1988.
Carter, the Baylor career leader in games played (124) and Big 12 wins (29), earned All-Big 12 honors for the first time in his career this season. The third-team All-Big 12 selection by the coaches leads the Big 12 and ranks fifth nationally with 6.3 assists per game and ranks second in the league with a 2.45 assist-to-turnover ratio. He currently ranks third all-time at Baylor with 264 career 3-pointers, fourth with 450 career assists and ninth with 1,369 career points.
The Reserve, La., native was also named to the All-Big 12 second team by the Associated Press, Big 12 media, Austin American-Statesman, Kansas City Star, The Oklahoman and Yahoo! Sports. The Big 12 media tabbed him to the All-Improved team.
Earlier this week, teammates Ekpe Udoh and LaceDarius Dunn both garnered All-American honors by Yahoo! Sports, an online publication. Udoh was named to the third team, while Dunn earned honorable mention recognition.

ST. LOUIS - Baylor men's basketball junior forward and 2010 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Ekpe Udoh was selected to the All-District VII team Tuesday by the United States Basketball Writers Association.
He becomes the fifth USBWA All-District selection under head coach Scott Drew, joining Terrance Thomas (2004), Aaron Bruce (2005) and Curtis Jerrells (2008, 2009).
Udoh, who established Baylor and Big 12 single-season records with 123 blocked shots this season, was named second-team All-Big 12 and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year after averaging 13.4 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.1 blocks in 30 games. Udoh is the first Baylor player in the Big 12 era named newcomer of the year and only the third player in program history to garner top newcomer honors - Terry Teagle (1979) and Jerome Lambert (1994) were both named Southwest Conference Newcomer of the Year.
Nicknamed "The Nightmare", his 4.10 blocks per game average currently ranks first all-time on Baylor's single-season and career lists. The Edmond, Okla., native posted a team-best 13 double-doubles, while establishing career-best single-game and single-season marks in points, rebounding, assists and blocked shots.

IRVING, Texas - Baylor men's basketball juniors LaceDarius Dunn and Ekpe Udoh were named to the 2010 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Second Team, while senior Tweety Carter earned third-team recognition Sunday. The official All-Big 12 awards are selected by the league's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.
Baylor (24-6) placed multiple players on the All-Big 12 first, second or third team for the first time in the league's 14-year history. Prior to this season, Baylor had only one first-team and one third-team All-Big 12 selection in the Scott Drew era.
Dunn and Udoh are the first Baylor players to earn second-team All-Big 12 accolades since Brian Skinner in 1998. Carter is the third All-Big 12 third team honoree in Baylor history, joining Lawrence Roberts (2003) and Curtis Jerrells (2009).
