The Lady Bears enter the weekend with five players ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association top 100. Senior Csilla Borsanyi is ranked No. 53, junior Jelena Stanivuk is No. 82 and junior Taylor Ormond is No. 98. In doubles, the duo of Broosova and Borsanyi is currently ranked No. 11 in the nation.
The BU-USC matchup will mark the second meeting of the season between the two squads. The Bears and Trojans squared off in the consolation round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Madison, Wis. Baylor, coming off its first loss of the season at the time, fired on all cylinders on its way to a 5-2 victory. The Lady Bears won two of three doubles matches, and four of six singles matches, three of which were by straight sets.
Baylor is 2-0 all-time against the Trojans with the win earlier this season. USC (8-4) features three players ranked in the top 25 and one more in the top 100. Maria Sanchez checks in at No. 5, while Alison Ramos and Danielle Lao are No. 21 and 22, respectively. Valeria Pulido is ranked No. 91 for the Trojans. In doubles, Sanchez is part of two ranked doubles teams, including 36th with Lyndsay Kinstler and 40th with Sanchez. Of the four ranked players and ranked doubles tandem, only one (Ramos) recorded a victory against BU earlier this year.
The Lady Bears hold a 3-1 all-time record against UCLA, including wins each of the last two seasons. This will mark the fourth year in a row the two teams have met, with UCLA getting its only win against Baylor in 2007. The Bruins (11-1) also feature four ranked singles players, as well as a top-five doubles tandem. Yasmin Schnack is ranked No. 5, Andrea Remynse is 34th, Noelle Hickey is 37th and Pamela Montez is 124th. Remynse and Schnack spearhead the doubles teams for UCLA, ranked fourth in the nation.

WACO, Texas - Baylor's ninth-ranked women's tennis team (9-2) won every singles and doubles match to sweep Iowa State (5-6) 7-0 on Saturday at the Baylor Tennis Center.
"Iowa State has a good team and I believe they are going to surprise some people this year," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "It's always good to get a win, especially when it's in Big 12 play."
The Lady Bears won each doubles match by at least three games and took the singles matches in straights on five of six courts. Sophomore Nina Secerbegovic recorded her 10th straight win to open dual-match play with a 6-2, 6-2 win, while senior Lenka Broosova cruised to her eighth consecutive win to open 2010 with a 6-2, 6-1.
Behind the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, Baylor was just as consistent. Taylor Ormond bounced back from a loss on Wednesday in singles, with a straight-sets win, 6-2, 7-5, over Tessa Lang, coming from behind in the second set. At No. 4 and No. 5, Csilla Borsanyi and Karolina Filipiak each dominated their opponents. Borsanyi dropped just two games in a 6-0, 6-2 win, while Filipiak lost just four in a 6-3, 6-1 victory. At No. 6, freshman Carla Lindlar dropped the first set 7-5, but fought back to win the second set 6-4 and the super tie-breaker 10-6.
In doubles, Iowa State put up a fight in each match at the midway point, but on each court the Lady Bears took control and won easily. Baylor took at 8-5 victories at No. 1 and No. 2, while the No. 3 doubles won 8-4. The biggest improvement for Baylor was the win at the second position where Secerbegovic and Lindlar came from behind to avenge a loss earlier in the week.
"I like our improvement at No.2 doubles today," Scrivano said. "Nina and Carla made some nice adjustments and played a very clean match from start to finish. The same goes for Taylor at No. 3 singles. She was ready to play and was much more focused today. When Taylor is focused and ready, she's an elite player."
The Lady Bears will be back in action with a west coast swing to take on No. 12 USC on Tuesday, March 9, and No. 4 UCLA on Wednesday, March 10. The meeting with USC will be the second of the season for Baylor, earning a 5-2 victory on Feb. 14.
LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior Lenka Broosova and sophomore Nina Secerbegovic each stayed undefeated to carry Baylor's ninth-ranked women's tennis team to a 6-1 win over Texas Tech in the first match of Big 12 play on Wednesday in Lubbock, Texas.
"Its always nice to get the Big 12 season started, and kick it off with a win," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "We are playing well at certain positions, but we need some work at some other positions. We definitely can play and compete at a much higher level than we are right now. So that's the good news and the bad news."
No. 8 Broosova and No. 41 Secerbegovic, playing the first and second positions for the Lady Bears each collected straight-sets victories. Broosova, who began the season 6-0, added to her undefeated streak with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of TTU's Sandra Dynka. Secerbegovic, who was 8-0 this season, added her ninth win with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Elizabeth Ullathorne.
"(Lenka and Nina) are great competitors," Scrivano said. "If you are undefeated at this stage, you are not only a good tennis player, but a great competitor. They just believe in their abilities. I am really happy the way they have carried the team so far."
The Lady Bears also got straight-sets wins at the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions as well. Csilla Borsanyi, ranked No. 53 in singles, recorded her second-consecutive win with a 6-2, 6-4 defeat of Kelsy Garland. Karolina Filipiak beat Caroline Starck 6-3, 6-4, while Carla Lindlar beat Lorena Aviles 6-3, 6-1.
Baylor also won the doubles point, taking two of the three matches. The No. 11 duo of Broosova and Borsanyi cruised to an 8-1 win, while Taylor Ormond and Filipiak won 8-2.
The Lady Bears will continue their Big 12 schedule with their conference home opener on Saturday at noon against Iowa State at the Baylor Tennis Center.

"Michigan played a great match and outplayed us today," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "It's extremely disappointing to see us not execute what we work on every day in practice. We have to change certain things right now and put some more serious work in if we're going to have a good season."
The Lady Bears started the match out down a point, losing two out of the three doubles matches. BU fought back, winning two of the first three singles matches to tie the score at two.
